Defending the DoD: Making Software Harder to Hack

Recent news reports on the interception of unencrypted image feeds from unmanned airborne assets in Iraq have generated concerns about the security of the software that empowers our next generation of war-fighting technology. A recent 60 Minutes episode noted that DOD leaders acknowledge increasingly numerous and successful cyber attacks on key systems. Closer to home, a 2009 IBM X-Force report revealed a more than 500 percent increase in malicious Web links and increased sophistication in vulnerability exploitation. Clearly, bad security news makes for good press, but these events are also showing a very broad audience that the nation in general, and DOD in particular, is not following best practices in securing their software and applications, and that this is making cyber attackers' jobs all too easy. This webcast will help you understand more about the space called "application security", and what you can and should be doing to better protect critical applications, data, and mission assets. Attend this webcast with Paul Kaspian, Market Manager, IBM and Andy Bochman, Security Specialist, IBM and they will leave you with: - A grasp of the language and importance of software security, and the vital role software plays in most new programs and complex systems - An understanding of software security best practices inside (and outside) the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) - An overview of testing tools and techniques that can help in the acquisition, design, development, and deployment of secure applications Register today and find out how you can make your software harder to hack.
