The New Requirements for 3rd Generation APM
sponsored by dynaTrace software, Inc.

In the last 5 years there has been an exponential increase in application complexity driven by fundamental changes in the way they are designed, built, and managed.  Promising technology innovations like virtualization, cloud computing, service-based architectures, and development frameworks offer great potential benefits, but they also increase the complexity and costs of ensuring application performance, stability, and scalability.  Typical IT organizations now spend 35% of their total resources dealing with these kinds of problems because the traditional approaches and tools for dealing with application performance are unable to keep pace with this new level of complexity.  Given the pressures that IT departments feel to simultaneously reduce costs while increasing productivity and quality, the status quo in application performance management is no longer sustainable.

In his presentation, John Van Siclen, the CEO of dynaTrace, will:

• Quantify the challenges and identify the underlying causes of the problems facing APM professionals today, in part by sharing previously unpublished APM market survey data;
• Describe how traditional approaches and tools for managing application performance management are failing in the face of the complexity of today’s applications;
• Outline the technical requirements for a new approach to APM to meet today’s challenges;
• Define the multiple sources of business and technical value that a new approach to APM can deliver; and,
• Offer practical steps for implementing a new approach to APM, including free and low cost steps that IT organizations can pursue immediately.
