ABSTRACT:
Kelton Research conducted an online survey of 333 IT staff members at US companies with 500 or more employees. The survey explored different topics related to supporting mobile workers, including connectivity, security and management control.

The survey, sponsored by Fiberlink Communications, Inc., was conducted between February 5 and February 10, 2008. The results are accurate at a 95% confidence level plus or minus 5.7 percentage points.

A summary of results is presented here in graphical form. The data address the questions:

• Is mobile work important?
• Is supporting mobile work expensive?
• Who is managing laptops?
• What can IT staffs monitor remotely?
• What are their greatest challenges?
• What problems have they experienced?
• What is keeping them up at night?
