ABSTRACT:
LEIF 2.0's customizable, modular design allows developers to better manage messaging transactions to meet system specifications. LEIF eliminates barriers normally associated with transitioning to a Web services environment by allowing for more complex messaging patterns and fluent communication between business partners, including the use of IBM WebSphere MQ?? connections between applications written in C/C++. This enhanced messaging capability allows developers to model virtually any communication pattern, including event notification and server-initiated messages, improving the power and control of its users. In addition, LEIF 2.0 enables developers to separate business logic from the basic, repetitive tasks associated with application infrastructure ?? allowing alterations to the service interface or deployment requirements, without rewriting more sophisticated business code.

LEIF 2.0 also provides unique benefits for Microsoft .NET Visual Studio users. The ability to expose business logic stored in applications originally written in C++ through Web services is particularly helpful for Visual Studio users looking to leverage that code while adding it to new .NET applications. In addition, with LEIF 2.0, Visual Studio users can now develop both LEIF C++ and .NET applications side-by-side, making the development and management processes more efficient.
